Art Historian. Author. Leader in the Arts.

Rose Salseda, PhD is an academic who puts ideas to action, driven by the commitment to make the art world an equitable place—for everyone.

As an assistant professor in the Department of Art & Art History at Stanford University, Dr. Salseda’s scholarship analyzes the politics of race and the effects of violence, racism, and xenophobia on artists and their work. She trains future leaders to critically examine the visual world, to protect the freedom of expression, and to understand how society shapes and is shaped by art. As a cofounder of the US Latinx Art Forum, Dr. Salseda works in community with experts to identify priority areas for growth in the visual art sector. She applies research and data analysis to the creation of initiatives that support practitioners and the wider art ecosystem.
